Super League Greece celebrates 20th Championship at 2025/26 Season Kick-off

The European Leagues was honoured to join the Super League Greece in celebrating a major milestone during a special event on Wednesday 9 July, marking the official kick-off of the 2025/26 season.

The event featured the awards for the 2024/25 season and the official draw for the Stoiximan Super League Championship 2025/26, which will begin on the weekend of 23–24 August. On this occasion, the league also celebrated two decades of progress and achievements in Greek professional football since its establishment in 2005.

This upcoming season marks the 20th championship organised by the Super League Greece, reflecting the league’s continued efforts to improve competitiveness, sustainability, and professional standards in Greek football. In recent years, the league has climbed the UEFA country coefficient rankings thanks to strong results of its clubs in the international club competitions, including the historical UEFA Conference League victory of Olympiacos FC in 2024. The League has recently adopted a new competition format to strengthen its competitiveness; clubs have secured enhanced media rights agreements starting this season while young players have been given increased opportunities to develop through more playing time.

The Super League Greece holds a special place in the European Leagues family, being one of the 14 founding members of our Association since the very first day of its domestic creation in 2005, thus showing its high commitment to protect the political, institutional and business interests of league football in Europe.

We extend our sincere gratitude to President Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, Vice-President Katia Koxenoglou, Competition Director Theodoros Laios, and to the entire staff of the Super League Greece league for their warm hospitality and continued dedication to strengthening European football through domestic leagues.

Ms. Katia Koxenoglou, Super League Greece Vice President, said:

“The official draw for the 2025-2026 Stoiximan Super League season marks a significant milestone, as it is the 20th Championship organised by Super League Greece.

We all enjoyed a beautiful evening, many football people honouring us with their presence, and I personally thank Mr. Alberto Colombo, General Secretary of the European Leagues for being here with us on such an important occasion for Greek football.

For the first time ever, the event was also broadcast in sign language. Football is for everyone, and we wanted all persons with hearing disabilities to have the joy of watching the draw in sign language too. We are also in direct communication with the European Leagues and follow the best practices of other championships for the progress of Greek football.”
