The European Leagues Stadia, Safety & Security Task Force convened this week in Budapest, alongside the UEFA Safety & Security Conference 2025.
The Task Force joined league experts from across Europe at the annual UEFA Conference, which brought together a wide network of organisations committed to ensuring safety and well-being in European football, including professional leagues, national authorities, national associations, clubs, and fan representatives. The event provided an opportunity for league members to attend insightful sessions, engage with the broader football ecosystem, and foster dialogue to strengthen cooperation on advancing safety, security, and service at football events.
The Task Force held an internal meeting to reinforce cooperation between member leagues, discussing seasonal priorities, emerging risks, and strategic initiatives. As part of this meeting, the Secretariat of the Saint-Denis Convention’s Committee on Safety and Security at Sports Events (T-S4) joined to present recent work on key issues for leagues, including the impact of collective bans on away supporters and the use of pyrotechnics at sport events, further strengthening collaboration between the European Leagues and the Council of Europe.
The European Leagues joined the Saint-Denis Convention as an Observer in 2024, underlining their long-term commitment to international cooperation on safety, security, and service in football.
During the meeting, the Leagues approved upcoming initiatives, including the plan for the season ahead, covering gatherings and meetings, the organisation of a field visit in the second part of the 2025/26 season, and the next steps in the cooperation plan with other stakeholders.
Established in March 2024, the Stadia, Safety & Security Task Force brings together experts from nine member leagues, providing a dedicated platform to exchange views, share experiences, and jointly represent the voice of professional football leagues towards European stakeholders and institutions.
