Professional football leagues from across Europe came together on the weekend of 9–10 May 2026 to celebrate Europe Day through dedicated matchday activations promoting European values as a means to reaffirming domestic football’s commitment to the European Sport Model.
Under the coordination of European Leagues, 14 member leagues from across 12 EU countries showcased and promoted the values that define the European Union through in-stadium activations and via broadcast and digital channels and platforms.
The initiative further highlights the impactful and unique role domestic football performs in bringing communities together in strengthening social cohesion through the promotion of shared values such as inclusion, diversity, meritocracy and solidarity. These values define the core functions that make up the European Sport Model on which European football’s heritage and success have been designed and must be protected and strengthened as a means to secure the game’s sustainable and prosperous future.
