The European Leagues gathered Communications Directors and Media Managers from its Member Leagues for a dedicated meeting on these matters, successfully held in London on 26 and 27 November 2024. Hosted by the English Football League (EFL), the event marked a significant step in fostering collaboration and building a strong network of communications professionals from domestic leagues across Europe.
The programme stressed the importance of cooperation and synergies between leagues on matters of common interest, as well as the sharing of best practices. It was the opportunity for the European Leagues administration to introduce key strategic priorities currently shaping its agenda, such us the protection of the football calendar, the evolution of the transfer system and the European Social Dialogue in the professional football sector as well EU related policy priorities when it comes to the the fight against online piracy, just to mention a few. Member Leagues shared domestic initiatives, offering innovative ideas and inspiring examples of impactful communication practices. These exchanges highlighted the value of collaboration in addressing shared challenges and achieving common goals.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit Stockley Park, where they toured the EFL production center and the Premier League’s VAR and production facilities. This behind-the-scenes look provided participants with unique perspectives on the operations and technologies supporting football broadcasting and communication.
As one of the four main Focus Areas of the European Leagues Member Services structure, “Communication” will continue to be a key priority. This group of PR and communication experts will remain committed to fostering cooperation and collaborating to shape the communication agenda of the European Leagues in the months ahead.
