The European Leagues Stadia, Safety & Security Task Force gathered last week in London for a two-day meeting hosted by the Premier League, reaffirming the strong commitment of professional leagues to safety, security, and service as core responsibilities of competition organisers.
Bringing together league experts from across Europe, the meeting provided a platform for peer learning and exchange, enabling members to strengthen a shared and consistent approach to stadia safety and security. By sharing operational experience and learning from best practices across Europe, member leagues continue to reinforce safety and security standards within their domestic competitions.
Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to explore the Premier League’s holistic approach to safety and security, covering the full matchday ecosystem, from fan management and match operations to the role of match delegates and coordination with clubs and public authorities. Dedicated discussions also addressed the fight against discrimination and online abuse, reflecting the growing responsibility of leagues to safeguard the integrity of competitions and ensure a safe and inclusive environment both inside and beyond the stadium.
These exchanges further underlined the importance of close collaboration with all parties involved in match organisation, including authorities and municipalities, which remains a priority for member leagues in delivering well-managed and welcoming football events.
The meeting concluded with a field visit to Emirates Stadium, where participants observed security infrastructure, took part in the Premier League matchday briefing, and followed match operations in a live environment, providing valuable operational insights.
The Stadia, Safety & Security Task Force continues to provide European Leagues members with a dedicated forum to exchange expertise, learn from one another, and collectively reinforce the role of professional leagues in advancing safety, security, and service across European football.
