On 3–4 June 2025, the European Leagues participated in the 7th Meeting of the Committee on Safety and Security at Sports Events (T-S4) in Strasbourg, continuing its engagement as an Observer to the Saint-Denis Convention of the Council of Europe.
As the representative body of 40 professional football competition organisers across Europe, the European Leagues reaffirmed its members’ commitment to promoting safe, secure, and welcoming environments at domestic football matches. Participation in the Committee, in its capacity as Observer, enables the organisation to contribute directly to the development of international frameworks and ensure that the voice of national competition organisers is effectively represented. This is particularly important, as the Committee’s recommendations on safety, security, and service directly impact competition organisation and matchday operations.
The Committee meetings also offer a valuable platform to engage with governmental agencies and National Football Information Points (NFIPs), complementing the strong cooperation between leagues and authorities at national level, and to exchange experiences and good practices across countries and sports.
This ongoing commitment to enhancing safety and security in domestic football is embodied by the European Leagues’ Safety and Security Task Force, reactivated in early 2024. The Task Force provides a dedicated space for member leagues to exchange views, share expertise, and collaborate on safety and security matters in the management of football competitions.
