Professional Football League of Kazakhstan joins the EPFL

The EPFL is proud to announce that the Professional Football League of Kazakhstan (PFLK) has joined the European Leagues’ Association as new Member League. The affiliation of the PFLK took place in Warsaw (POL) on 23 October 2015, on occasion of the first General Assembly of the EPFL for the 2015/2016 season.

Chaired by Olzhas Abrayev and headquartered in the Republic of Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, the PFLK is a non-commercial, independent and self-governing Association in charge for running professional football in Kazakhstan.

The PFLK is the national body organizing the Premier League and the First League of Kazakhstan, both composed by 12 Professional Football Clubs. In addition, the PFLK is responsible for the organization of the following competitions: Kazakhstan Cup; Kazakhstan Super Cup; Premier-League Club’s Reserve Teams Championship and Premier-League Clubs’Reserve Team Cup.

During the affiliation’s ceremony, the EPFL Chairman Frédéric Thiriez stated: “We are honored to have the new League Kazakhstan joining the European Leagues’ family. The EPFL and its Member Leagues are ready to contribute to further develop professional football in Kazakhstan”.

With the affiliation of the PFLK, the EPFL now counts with 32 Member Leagues and Associate Members which represent 907 clubs in 25 European Countries.
