EPFL welcomes FIFA ExCo decisions

EPFL welcomes FIFA decision on international match calendar and supports implementation of FIFA’s transfer matching system.

The Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) welcomes the decision just taken by FIFA Executive Committee to change the days of future double dates in FIFA’s international match calendar from Friday/Saturday and Wednesday to Friday/Saturday and Tuesday.

“With this important decision, FIFA puts finally into practice a long aspiration of the EPFL, its members Leagues and the thousand clubs we have the privilege of representing across Europe. This is indeed a welcomed an positive development”, stated the EPFL CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros. Starting from September 2010, new double dates in FIFA international match calendar will then be put in place.

Following FIFA Executive Committee’s update on its Transfer Matching System (TMS), the EPFL is assisting the world football governing body in implementing this important system, while supporting and facilitating Leagues and Clubs.
