The EPFL welcomes the new financial distribution system which was agreed at the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Vienna for clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, with a view to increasing solidarity payments, as well as payments to clubs in the UEFA Europa League for the 2015-18 cycle.
The EPFL has always called for a fair financial distribution system in order to create the proper competitive balance in club football both at international and domestic level. This new distribution concept will guarantee more money for more clubs in all European Leagues independently from their size and dimension.
The EPFL General Secretary Georg Pangl stated: “The European Professional Football Leagues congratulate UEFA on this important step for a more sustainable future of European club football. Personally I am grateful to UEFA President Michel Platini and General Secretary Gianni Infantino for this wise decision”.
The details of the agreement will be presented to the clubs on the occasion of the European Club Association’s general assembly, which takes place in Stockholm, Sweden, on Tuesday 31 March 2015.
