A high level delegation of EPFL representatives took part to the 1st International Conference “FootbALLabout” on past 23 and 24 January, in Athens. Organised and hosted by the Super League Greece, founding Member of the EPFL, the event counted with the presence of the EPFL Vice Chairman and French LFP President Frédéric Thiriez, EPFL CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, EFPL Board Member and Spanish LFP President José Luis Astiazarán Iriondo, EPFL Board Member and Dutch Eredivisie CEO Frank Rutten and the Turkish Union of Clubs Vice President Hassan Akincioglou, among others.
Aimed to enhance knowledge sharing, the “FootbALLabout” focused on key topics of professional football, such as the financial stability, transparency and solidarity professional football, the development of youth competitions and football academies as well as marketing and communications and research best attendance. The programme also included workshops on professional players’ insurance policies and maintenance of football grounds.

The list of speakers also included senior representative from FIFA, UEFA and major European Clubs, while the hosting country was well represented by the Greek National Football team Head Coach Fernando Santos, as well as top executives from the Super League Greece, the Hellenic Football Federation and the Greek Government.

Super League President Yannis Moralis stressed the importance of sharing know-how and expertise with other professional European football leagues and noted that “We need to work together with all involved stakeholders, in order to ensure that we implement the best practices in Greek professional football. Things will not change in a single day, but we need to follow a strategic plan, so as to have tangible results. FootbALLabout was the first step towards this goal and Super league Greece will continue its efforts, along with EPFL and other European Football Leagues”.

Super League CEO Michael Anagnostou, who concluded the works of the conference, pointed out that “Super League, as a responsible institutional body, in performing its duties took this initiative, in the midst of a dire social and financial environment, and invited distinguished officials from advanced and emerging international leagues, FIFA and UEFA in order to submit their opinions and proposals for the mutual problems and how to deal with them.”Back to All News
