EPFL General Assembly – Paris 24-25 October 2013
The European Leagues’ Association gathered in Paris for the first EPFL General Assembly of the 2013/2014 football season. Hosted by the French Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the meeting counted with the presence of all EPFL Members Leagues and Associate Members and with executive representatives of FIFA, UEFA and ECA.
On the occasion, the EPFL debated and approved a new three years term Strategy Plan which will see the European Leagues to focus their efforts on the Association’s influence on political and sports institutions as well as the enhancing of EPFL’s role as knowledge leader in all professional football matters. Within the same context, the 2012/13 financial and activities reports were approved together with the budget for the current season.
During the meeting, the European Leagues approved the admission of the Azerbaijan Professional Football League as the newest member of the Association which now counts with 30 affiliates across Europe.
Election of EPFL Board of Directors
The EPFL supreme body elected a new Board of Directors and appointed new Chairman and Deputy Chairman for the upcoming three years cycle 2013/2014 – 2015/2016:

International Match Calendar: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Following the recent wise decision taken by the FIFA Executive Committee, the EPFL reiterates its commitment and willingness to contribute to the future consultation process which shall involve all Football stakeholder to assess and evaluate the period during which the Qatar World Cup 2022 shall be played.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the new EPFL Chairman Frédéric Thiriez stated: “My first words of gratitude go to my colleagues and friends of the European Professional Football Leagues. It’s with great sense of responsibility that I assume the chair of our Association. It’s time to join forces to defend the role of the leagues in the industry and face the mounting challenges professional football is facing nowadays. We are glad that FIFA General Secretary Jérôme Valcke attended our meeting and recognised the influence and role of the European Leagues in the football family. The EPFL is ready to work together with FIFA, UEFA, ECA and all football stakeholders to find the most feasible solution for the World Cup Qatar 2022 and enhance further cooperation in all other matters of common concerns”.
