The EPFL, in partnership with the European Stadium & Safety Management Association (ESSMA), will organise a Workshop on Stadia Management on 26 February 2013 at the Commerzbank-Arena, in Frankfurt (Germany). Building on the great success of the previous editions of the EPFL Cycle of Workshop on Safety, Security and Stadia Management, this new initiative will gather a series of well-known specialists from Leagues and other football organisations from all over the world.
The list of high level speakers shall include Emirates Stadium Director John Beattie, Frankfurt Commerzbank-Arena General Manager Patrik Meyer, Le Havre AC CEO Alain Belsoeur, Chairman of the Council of Europe’s Standing Committee on the Convention on Spectator Violence Jo Vanhecke, International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) Executive Director Helmut Spahn, Pro League CEO Ludwig Sneyers and DFL Head of Match Operations and Stadiums Birger Nass, UCPF Head of Lega Benjamin Viard as well as senior representatives from the Belgian Pro League, the English Premier League, Germany’s DFL, the Union of French Professional Football Clubs and Cardiff City FC, among others.
As a general overview, this Workshop will address the following topics:
- The current trends and prospective developments in the area of stadia management;
- The means and projects developed by Leagues and clubs to enhance fans’ match day experience in football venues; and
- The challenges and best practices on dealing with supporters’ behaviour and notably the risks induced by crowd dynamics before, during and after football matches
